THOUGHT LEADERS HEADLINE HYUNDAI INNOVATION CONGRESS

Bloomberg anchor and entrepreneur Quintin Pastrana indulges the audience in a thought-provoking Q&A with (L-R) Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) of South Korea Brand Strategy Team Head Kuen-Young Lee, HMC Asia & Pacific Regional Headquarters General Manager Cha Deug Yong, and HARI Senior Vice-President for Strategy and Innovation Cluster Renato Pizarro.

In what is envisioned to be a yearly knowledge forum for innovation champions, the very first Hyundai Innovation Congress (iCON) held recently at the World Trade Center saw strategic thinkers lay the groundwork for a pioneering culture of innovation and digital leadership across different industries.

iCON was organized by Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, to reinforce its brand identity as an innovation trailblazer in the automotive industry.

President and CEO noted, “Hyundai, the world over, stands for harnessing accessible and responsive innovation. It is part of our DNA as we aspire to be the most beloved brand. It is with this thought that we kick off the very first iCON—to embed the culture of innovation in the Philippine culture for the sake of sustainability.”

Donald Lim, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines, considered one of the founding fathers of digital marketing in the Philippines, jumpstarted the forum with an exhaustive discussion on digital transformations and how they change the global business landscape in his talk on “Future-Proofing Innovation.”

Executive Strategic Planning Director Pamela Garcia of J. Walter Thompson Philippines zeroed in on global trends and creating new frontiers in customer centricity in her presentation on “Unlocking Keys to Innovation Excellence.”

Biodiversity took center stage in the talk on “Advancing Innovation for Business and Biodiversity in the ASEAN,” as Atty. Roberto Oliva, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, highlighted the need to shift to a resource-efficient strategy to ensure sustainability.

Rounding up the forum was a presentation on the inspiring innovation story of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), aptly entitled “Disruptive Transformation in the Automotive Industry: The Hyundai Story.” Kuen-Young Lee, HMC Brand Strategy Team Head provided the audience a rare opportunity to learn about the latest disruptions in Hyundai and detailed the company’s journey to innovation and growth.

With the success of the iCON, HARI is poised to sustain its leadership as a prime innovator in the automotive industry.

Agudo added, “Through our 16 years of operation in the Philippines, Hyundai has taken to heart the challenge to innovate—launching products and services that have revolutionized the local automotive industry. We are bent on beating our own record as we continue to drive new value into the current landscape.”
